Visual identity and creative direction for Babette – a new café set within the heart of the iconic Queen Victoria Building in Sydney, that celebrates a contemporary approach to French flavours. The brand direction is inspired by the juxtaposition of two pillars – modernity and heritage, which are deeply entrenched in the spirit of Babette. From the menu, pairing contemporary Australian dishes with a classic French flair, to the creation of a brand new café within the grounds of a heritage-listed site, the brand is to visually convey a harmonious coming together of these design touch-points. Collaborating with a boutique interior studio to create a holistic and multi-sensory hospitality experience, the spatial narrative struck the perfect balance between warmth and sophistication – imbued with subtle nods to ‘Frenchness’, and most importantly, authentic to the heritage beauty of QVB.
